Andrew Foster, MD

Growing up in rural southern Ohio, my interest in medicine was piqued through my own various sports injuries. After graduating from Miami University, I attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I was drawn to the immediate quality of life improvements orthopedic surgery could offer patients, and thus I stayed at Ohio State to complete my Orthopedic Surgery residency. I am currently a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Joint Replacement. Joint replacement became my primary interest behind the desire to help patients regain their mobility after degenerative joint conditions or fractures.

I arrived in southern California to complete the prestigious hip and pelvis reconstruction fellowship at Saint John's Hospital in Santa Monica. Under the tutelage of Dr. Joel Matta, the world leader and primary innovator of anterior approach total hip replacement, I learned the least invasive technique in hip replacement, which allows a rapid recovery and virtually eliminates risk of dislocation. I enjoyed the southern California patients and lifestyle, and decided to stay and continue my career in the region.

Being trained in various methods of knee replacement and in keeping up with modern technology, I have embraced the robotic total knee replacement method, which I feel is the most consistent and reproducible technique for creating a well-balanced, pain free knee after surgery. I offer both standard and robotic knee replacement options to my patients.

My interests include total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, shoulder replacement, as well as non-operative treatments of arthritic conditions of the hip, knee, and shoulder. I take particular interest in spending extra time with my patients, educating them on their condition and potential treatment options, and explaining expectations of surgery. The decision to undergo joint replacement is often a life changing one, and I feel this should not be a rushed decision. My joy is watching patients recover after surgery and return to an improved quality of life.

In my spare time I enjoy weight training, surfing, distance running, hiking, NHL hockey, and Ohio State football.
