Devin Zarkowsky, M.D. is Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery as a General Surgeon, and who is also Board-Certified by the American Board of Surgery as a Vascular Surgeon, with expertise in the treatment and surgery of vascular conditions including, but not limited to carotid artery surgery and stenting, aortic repair with branched and fenestrated stent-grafts, leg artery bypass, leg artery angioplasty and stenting, limb preservation surgery, aortic arch aneurysm, venous disease, connective tissue disorders, and spinal surgery collaboration.
Dr. Zarkowsky earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Middlebury College. After completing his bachelors degree, Dr. Zarkowsky completed a Master of Science in Pharmacology and a Master of Science in Physiology both at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. After completing medical school at Albany Medical College, where Dr. Zarkowsky was elected to the AOA Medical Honor Society, Dr. Zarkowsky relocated to New Hampshire where he pursued residency training in General Surgery at the renowned Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Following the completion of his General Surgery residency, Dr. Zarkowsky relocated to California and joined Dameron Hospital of Stockton as the attending General Surgeon.
Dr. Zarkowsky then further advanced his training by completing a prestigious Vascular and Endovascular Surgery fellowship in the Department of Surgery at the world-renowned University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, where Dr. Zarkowsky was awarded the prestigious TEACH aware, in recognition of his exceptional educational efforts. There Dr. Zarkowsky’s rigorous fellowship training included treatment of all ailments of vascular surgery. Following the completion of fellowship, Dr. Zarkowsky was appointed as Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery at University of Colorado Medicine. While at the University of Colorado Medicine, Dr. Zarkowsky provided Vascular Surgery coverage for the Rocky Mountain Regional Veterans Administration Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado in collaboration with the University of Colorado. Thereafter, Dr. Zarkowsky joined Newport Care Medical Group, Inc. as a Vascular and Spinal Access Surgeon.
Dr. Zarkowsky is committed to improving patient care through research, specifically as it relates to incorporating big data science and machine learning analyses. Dr. Zarkowsky has contributed to more than 50 peer-reviewed articles to JAMA surgery, Journal of Vascular Surgery, and other highly respected medical publications, in addition to the several book chapters in vascular and spinal surgery, including, but not limited to the forthcoming 11th edition of Rutherford’s Vascular Surgery, the field’s seminal reference.
Dr. Zarkowsky believes patient care starts the moment the patient calls the practice for an appointment, continues to the operating room or interventional suite as needed, and extended over lifetime. Dr. Zarkowsky, firmly believes that surgical problems are best managed with open communication between the patient and the doctor, and he encourages his patients to call, email, and text message questions about care, including, but not limited to medicine, procedures, and post-operative care, as well as any issues that may arise that he can address for the patient’s family members and friends.
Dr. Zarkowsky enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and everything Southern California has to offer, including, but not limited to the beach, hiring, skiing, and soccer.
